FAQ
Questions people actually ask
Answered properly rather than deflected. If yours is not here, the support address at the bottom is monitored.
Is Calolean free?
Yes. The free plan includes AI food scanning, the chat coach, on-device form analysis, the full exercise library and unlimited manual logging, with a generous daily allowance on the AI features. It is supported by clearly labelled sponsored cards. A Premium plan that removes ads and raises the AI limits is in development.
Does it understand Indian food?
That is the reason it exists. Most calorie trackers are built around Western portions and ingredients, so logging a roti-sabzi-dal plate means three awkward searches and a guess. Calolean is built around mixed Indian plates, home cooking and regional dishes, and it reads a whole thali from one photograph.
What happens to the photos I upload?
A food photo is compressed on your device, sent to Google's Gemini model to be identified, and then discarded. We do not keep a copy and it is never used to train anything. The nutrition numbers it produces are what gets saved to your log.
Do my workout videos get uploaded?
No — and this is a real architectural difference, not a promise. Pose detection runs entirely inside your browser using MediaPipe. What leaves your device is a list of joint angles: numbers, with no image data attached. The video itself never touches our servers.
How accurate are the calorie estimates?
Treat them as good estimates, not laboratory measurements. A photograph cannot see how much oil went into the pan. Accuracy is high enough to make consistent daily tracking useful — which is what actually changes outcomes — and you can correct any portion before it is saved.
Do I need a gym or any equipment?
No. The exercise library covers bodyweight movements alongside barbell and machine work, and the coach will build around what you actually have. For form analysis you need a phone that can prop up somewhere and see you.
Is this medical advice?
No. Calolean is a general fitness and nutrition tool. It is not a medical device and its output is not a diagnosis or a treatment plan. If you are pregnant, managing diabetes, thyroid issues, an eating disorder or any other condition, work with a doctor or a registered dietitian.
Can I get my data out, or delete it?
Both, without asking us. Profile → Export Data gives you a CSV of everything you have logged. Profile → Delete Account removes your data. There is no retention period you have to wait out and no email you have to send.
Is there an Android app?
Not yet. Calolean runs in the browser on any phone and can be added to your home screen, where it behaves like an installed app. A native Android app — which will also read step and heart-rate data through Health Connect, something no website is allowed to do — is the next major piece of work.
Why do I see sponsored cards?
They are what keeps the free plan free. They are always labelled, and they are targeted only from a small whitelist of food and fitness categories — never from your chat text, your photographs or anything personal. Premium will remove them entirely.
Still stuck?
Write to contact@calolean.com and the person who builds the app will answer. More detail on the contact page.
